Back to school is just around the corner and parents will have to start purchasing school supplies for their children. We don't need to explain to you how inflation has impacted not just the local economy, but the choices parents must make every day to support their families.
As you may know, the Rotary Club of St. George is a service club that provides support to many needs in our community. Over the last year the members of our club have volunteered their time and resources to serve our community--feeding and clothing the Homeless, performing needing improvements in the community, donating books at a local public elementary school, keeping local roads free of trash.. and more!
We are continuing our mission to serve local families by providing those in need with school supplies. Since 2022, we have raised over $10,000 to purchase hundreds of comprehensive kits of schools supplies for students, and distributed them to Shenandoah Elementary, Woodlawn Elementary, Wedgewood Elementary, and Parkview Elementary Schools. Our goal for 2025 is to provide a greater number of supplies for each school. Of these five schools, between 60%-90% of children per school are eligible for the "Free and Reduced Lunch" program, meaning those families are in a category of poverty or financial hardship.
We would greatly appreciate your support through a donation to our school supply drive. We are requesting financial donations to enable us to purchase supplies wholesale through a local supplier, Louisiana Office Supply Company.
